sometimes words really cannot express even a hint of the feelings it's supposed to convey.
"my condolences, i offer you my condolences", for example.
it somehow seems.. so.. worded.
would you rather suffer for long, knowing it'll lead to The End, but meanwhile treasuring what you have left and preparing for it all,
or have a tragically rude shock when it happens?
it's worse with false hope, those stories of people making miraculous recoveries before sudden deaths.
but.
when i got the news, i couldn't reply. what was i supposed to say,
"thanks for the info"?
"oh noooo"?
"oh dear"?
nothing could come out, just pure sadness and sympathy.
no one deserves these kind of hurt and heartbreak,
but everyone will suffer it, at least once for some, many many times for most.
it's just part and parcel of exercising our emotions, methinks.
i wish you all the best, i do offer my condolences, but i'm sorry if i can't say anything useful to you. after all, we're not that close, we just have this something in common.
but then, it's not nice to relieve it either.
