fear

I have this deep set fear, it clouds my mind, I
Am confused, I am lost.
I want the Kitten, yet I want the Wolf,
Docile's too docile for me,
Danger's too dangerous for me.
I want the Goldilocks, but what if
I never find it? What if
Along the way, I lose both
My Kitten and my Wolf?
Safe and sound lay Goldilocks in her baby bear's bed.
Safe and sound stay I in my fearful crouch, hiding
From those who urge me to stay,
To leave,
To settle,
To pursue.
Danger tempts and taunts,
Safety purrs and paws,
I snuggle into the warm fur of my Kitten,
Thinking all the time of my Wolf.
