i am a fan of the environment, in theory.
i tell people not to throw new plastics, to waste less water, to save electricity, yadayada.
i pick modules like physial geography and atmospheric science, yadayada.
but when it comes to things like some
Green Wave Environmental Care Competition 2012,
some Climate Change Advert competition........
i'm like, bah, humbug.
likei don't get it! why you give prizes like $10000 (tertiary), $80000 (jc), $6000 (secondary), $4000 (primary) to some stuff like these?
does a primary school kid really need $4000? (okay on hindsight YES).
i mean, yes we need fresh perspectives on tools to save the earth from climate change, but do we not have enough brains in Singapore to do something about it?
i feel that the environment, and the climate change issue is so.. commodified, commercialized.
it's the.. i forgot what it's called. learnt it only last sem walao.
that everyone says something so much, you go along with it without thinking.
if you oppose it, you are terribly wrong and will be judged.
"oh ya climate change ya serious issue man!"
"ya the earth very hot now.... global warming.......... green house effect.... i'm name-dropping like a smart ass..."
le sigh.
on a side note, i have eaten THREE reeses's cups.
not funny wtf.
like not the cups the size of a dime.
like the cups thesize of a palm.
right now as i'm sitting on my bed, i feel the fat rolls folding and drooping ahahhahaha.
and lastly, i don't know what i got myself into but i've withdrawn from the mission trip i was excited about, and planned for, to apply for a teaching internship.
i remember how i used to go "eww i NEVER want to be a teacher".
i'm rethinking it now, i mean, the bond is only 4 years!
i'll be a fresh working graduate at only.. 26-27 years old. as compared to like a 22 year old.
..... okay right?
oh well.
